As the flagship event of Singapore Design Week 2022, Re-Route Festival reimagined the Little India district through an experiential design-driven placemaking concept. By collaborating with local artists, the festival transformed everyday urban spaces into immersive storytelling environments through a series of site-specific installations.
Each installation was thoughtfully crafted to not only reflect the unique narratives and cultural history of its location, but also to disrupt the visual norm. They deliberately contrasted with their surroundings to create bold visual statements that captured attention and invited deeper engagement. Through this intentional juxtaposition, visitors were encouraged to see familiar places in new ways, blending innovative ideas with the textures of local heritage.
