From swimming up the water streams to conquering the skies, majestic creatures from the ancient tale ‘The Legend of the Dragon Gate’ soared in the heart of the Marina Bay Sands’ Grand Colonnade.
As the legend tells, thousands of carp brave the strong current, swimming upstream to reach the peak of a waterfall. Only a select few dare to undertake this journey, and those who survive are granted the remarkable transformation into dragons.
A pair of giant dragons rested in front of a grandeur 15-meter-tall Dragon’s Gate installation, built after a traditional hip roof with decorative vertical ridges, ascending down with lustrous crystal beads. Large, sculptural, twisting serpents with defined features, the dragons were set in shimmering shades of aquamarine and teal, with wood finishing accenting the edge of individual scales, horns, and spikes.
Guided by a symbol of wisdom and power, the giant creatures were captured holding iridescent white pearls, clasped within the claws of each dragon. Swimming up to the tails, a shoal of colourful koi fish levitated in gentle swirls, symbolising the mythological transformation upon resilience and perseverance.
